This study proves that girls and women with ADHD have just as many social, emotional, academic, and substance abuse problems as boys and men with ADHD.

I am a definite fan of research that I can "take to the bank." This has enough good information that it should be able to sway even the toughest kid/parent/teacher/doctor into delving deeper into ADD/ADHD in kids that do not exhibit disruptive behavior. Most are girls, but it does cross over as well.
