Very very interesting article and I'm sure in reality very true.
When to draw the line in a diagnosis between a disorder and a gift is extremely difficult because many gifted children have both. This article does an excellent synopsis of all the conditions that can accompany a gifted child.
It is so difficult to draw a line between a diagnosis of a syndrome (which is essentially a set of symptoms) and a gifted child. This article gives some ideas of how to separate the two. Some people may not like the article because it suggests that it is rare to suffer from both, so you are either one or the other and obviously the symptoms collide. In our world of pigeon-holing symptoms to one syndrome or another without tolerating a crossover is a difficult task at best, but this article is food for thought if you think your child may be a gifted person. It is very informative and easy to understand and read for any level.
